About this record
This studio portrait of Augustin Grignon, a fur trader and settler in the Fox Valley, was taken near the end of his life, about the time he dictated the "Recollections of Seventy-Two Years" given at Turning Points. He is shown holding a tomahawk made from a gun barrel by Jourdain, the government blacksmith in Green Bay, which could also be used as a pipe.Citation
