About this record

Established under the auspices of the Works Projects Administration, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) sought to give unemployed young men between the ages of 18 and 25 jobs. CCC camps were constructed throughout the United States. The men planted trees, built parks, drained swamps, restocked rivers with fish, and completed a whole host of other conservation projects. Over 3 million men served in the CCC between 1933 and 1941.
