About this record
Each year, the Rural Industries Division of the Wisconsin State Employment Service produces a summary report of farm labor from the previous year. Thousands of seasonal workers were hired to harvest and process fruit and vegetable crops, of which 12,000 were migratory laborers in 1960. Migrant laborers were primarily used to harvest cherries, peas, and cucumbers. This report describes the procurement of workers, the composition of the workforce, conditions in the fields, and recommendations for the next growing season.Citation
