About this record

Czechs were some of the earliest eastern Europeans to come to Wisconsin, settling in communities along Lake Michigan in the late 1850s. Later immigrants established large Czech communities in northern Wisconsin, working in the lumber industry or farming land in the cutover. This article describes the movement northward to Langlade county of a group of Czechs who had been living near Centerville in the 1880s.
