First published as a series of articles in the Free Press, this history of the Chippewa Valley was published in book form by Thomas Randall in 1875. Randall covers all aspects of the region's history from the first white settlers to the late nineteenth century, including a history of the area's Civil War units and the beginnings of the logging industry that offer a unique perspective on the Chippewa Valley.
