About this record

In a letter to the editor, former lumberman Thomas McBean compares the living conditions of lumber camps in 1915 to the deprivations of his years spent in camps in the mid-nineteenth century. McBean amusingly recounts daily life in the camp and the difficulties of securing enough food and other commodities during the winter.
