About this record

In 1934, the progressive faction of the Republican party in Wisconsin voted to leave the Republicans and to form their own party. For more than forty years, progressive Republicans had been the dominating influence in Wisconsin politics, and had even produced a presidential candidate in Robert La Follette. As one period in progressive political history closed, H.P. Ringler wrote this survey of the movement, its major legislative accomplishments, and political figures.
