About this record

Morgan L. Martin (1803-1887) here defends the memory of his old friend Solomon Juneau (1793-1856) against recent mis-representations. Juneau, a fur trader, built the first permanent house in Milwaukee. Martin recalls his visits there and provides details about the opening years of our state's largest city. For more details about both men, consult the Dictionary of Wisconsin History (at left).
