About this record

Lars D. Reque was among the first group of Norwegian immigrants to come to Wisconsin. Interviewed by a journalist in 1905, he recalls here the trials of coming to the New World, encountering New York and Chicago, and making a home in the wilderness of Dane County in the 1840's. He also worked as a lead miner and on lumber crews before settling down on a farm near Koshkonong.
